Variety is the spice of life. What a fun way of saying that new experiences help make life more interesting. If you’ve had a chance to chat with Vladimir, a Network Engineer at Intivix, you’d hear how he’s living that saying every chance he gets.
Vladimir has been with the Intivix team for around 5 months. And in that time, he’s supported numerous clients and helped resolve their IT issues. As a Network Engineer, that’s his focus – supporting clients via phone or email with IT services, their computers and any other IT related questions that may come up. And he truly enjoys it. For Vladimir, it feels great to help someone and solve their issues.
Vladimir currently lives in Corpus Christi, Texas. Corpus Christi is on the Gulf of Mexico, which means there is plenty of access to all things beachy, which works for Vladimir because he enjoys the outdoors and heading out to the beach as often as possible. He’ll typically bring his dog, an English Springer-Spaniel named Bear, with him to the beach. He’s a bird-dog, so he is constantly chasing birds or running in the water. Bear is two years old, so the running and outdoors help him and Vladimir sleep at night.
With Corpus Christi being a beach town, there’s also easy access to great fishing spots. And, while catching fish is an art that can be hard to master, it doesn’t stop Vladimir from heading out and enjoying a day of fishing.
Camping, grilling, and hiking are also common activities for Vladimir, most of the time with his girlfriend, Sarah. They’ve been together for around two years and do their best to weave new experiences into their lives on a frequent basis.
The Traveler
One of the ways they do this is through cooking. They like to try new recipes and experiment a bit. The most recent focus has been on Russian recipes, like borscht. The Russian influence comes from his birthplace of Moldova, an Eastern European country and the former Soviet Republic. Vladimir called Moldova home for twelve years before he moved to Texas with his Mom and Brother. All three still live in the area, enabling them to get together for the holidays and to celebrate birthdays. Which is great because those special days also come with leftovers – yep, his Mom loves to cook and tends to cook a bit too much, which isn’t a bad thing when the food tastes that good!
Vladimir likes to infuse experiences through travel as well. He’s had the opportunity to travel to Iceland to see the Northern Lights and Hong Kong to celebrate his, and a friend’s birthday. And while the destinations were pretty amazing, these trips weren’t overly planned out. Vladimir and his friends go into planning a trip with zero expectations and select a location based on what works for their schedule and their budget. Kind of a fun way to plan a vacation!
More travel is likely in Vladimir’s future as well. A European trip to visit France, Germany, England and Italy, and getting immersed in the culture and visiting museums is definitely on his bucket list. So is Patagonia. He’d love to camp, hike, and just be one with nature while enjoying this beautiful area.
Enjoy the Experience
While you’ll usually find Vladimir enjoying the outdoors, he’s also very comfortable relaxing at home. Occasionally you might catch him reading a good fiction book like Crime and Punishment or East of Eden. But, he can definitely be lured away from a book by the opportunity to take a drive down the coast.
If it seems like Vladimir likes to try new things, it’s because he does. He likes to get out in the world and enjoy the experiences that are in front of him and the ones that need to be searched for a bit. It’s that variety of life that makes him who he is, and adds a bit of “spice” to life.
